North Dudley learners of the year
Women from the north of Dudley who took part in a photo project have been recognised as learners of the year.

The Girls on Film project was a joint project between neighbourhood management and Dudley Council’s adult and youth services.

The project built citizenship, confidence, social networks and community cohesion, and recognised the contribution of women to their communities.

Women from north Dudley including Wallbrook, Coseley and the Oval and Tudor were each given a disposable camera to chronicle their daily lives. The resulting photos were displayed at Dormston Arts Centre and revealed the varied lives of women in the borough, with all sharing a sense of family and community.

Councillor Peter Miller, cabinet member for adult and community services said:
"The Girls on Film project was a great way for women to learn new skills and to share details of their lives. The exhibition was a great success and I’m delighted to see that their achievements have been recognised."

The women will be receiving their certificates of achievement at the learners of the year ceremony run by Dudley Learning Partnership on 19 October.
