Summary
To be part of a specialist team dedicated to installing, maintaining and developing the Councils’ voice and data network, implementing highly technical communications hardware and software.

An opportunity has become available to provide maternity cover for a Technical Administration Assistant within the Networks team that provides a maintenance, development and support service for the Authority’s communications network.
Experience of working in an ICT support environment, preferrably within a network / telecommunications area, is required. You will also need to have excellent communication skills whilst being methodical in support and administration.

Network and Telecommunications Unit Manager
Purpose of the Job
To work as part of the Network and Telecommunications Unit providing a technical support service, undertaking of a customer liaison role including monitoring and ensuring that a quality service is provided and responsibility for all the administration required within the Unit.
Specific Accountabilities
Incident diagnosis and resolution in response to customer calls received via the Service Desk including making decisions regarding the economical repair of equipment.
Assisting in the building and implementing of range of Network/Mobile solutions to support the team in achieving deadlines
Issue and monitor all mobile and landline communication devices for the authority and manage telephony billing platform, ensuring accuracy of financial details and users.
Assist with exploitation and integration of new technologies and services for the Council
When required undertake the role of allocating, progressing and monitoring of incidents and implementations
Assist with workflow monitoring and monitoring of target dates. Assist the Unit Manager by providing and interpreting statistical information using the ICTS Business Systems
Assist in setting out quality standards for the Unit and ensuring that these are met
Responsible for ensuring the Configuration Management Database is correctly maintained and testing for accuracy on a regular basis
Customer liaison including keeping customers informed on the progress of their incidents and implementations and undertaking random checks of customer satisfaction
Liaise with Project Managers and Procurement to co-ordinate both minor and major projects ensuring quality service delivery
Liaison with other sections within I.C.T Services as appropriate
Liaise with third party suppliers of technical products and services as appropriate.
Provide advice, guidance and training to staff and customers when required on the use of products and services provided by the unit.
Create and maintain standard documentation to support successful service delivery, ensure it is appropriately used and make recommendations for improvements when required
Monitor van usage and ensure that supporting documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Order, issue and monitor all stock and consumables ensuring that appropriate stock levels are maintained and all stock is booked out
Assist with the management, support and administration of technical based applications within area of responsibility to support service delivery
Order, issue and monitor all hardware stock relating to third party calls including liaising with 3rd party suppliers and engineers. Undertake a monitoring role with regards to all events assigned to 3rd parties to ensure agreed SLA’s are met
Undertake some Systems Admin duties in various ICTS Business Systems and management tools
Meet defined targets and quality standards
Foster good working relationships with individuals/groups external to the team (customers, suppliers, other I.C.T. Services staff) to ensure objectives are met
