We require a Level 2 Learning Support Teaching Assistant to work with a Statemented Year 2 child for 15 hours per week.
The Council is currently involved in a grading & pay review, which if current proposals are implemented means the salary/hourly rate for this post would be £13,874 - £15,444. No pay protection will apply to you if you are appointed to this post. The proposed implementation date is 1st April 2012. These terms and conditions are subject to a collective agreement being reached with the relevant unions.

Job Description
Reports to
SENCO & Class Teacher
Purpose of the Job
To provide specific support for a statemented pupil with hearing difficulties under the supervision and guidance of a classroom teacher.
Undertake programmes to:
Support the all round development of the child.
Maintain the interests and motivation of the pupil.
Use initiative and seek advice as required.
Liaise effectively with pupils, staff and others.
Use ICT effectively to support learning.
Maintain pupil safety.
Ensure access to all curriculum areas.
Specific Accountabilities
Child has specific hearing and associated learning difficulties.
Establish a constructive relationship with the pupil.
Provide feedback in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher.
Liaise with external agencies and parents.
Ensure appropriate programmes are provided.
Assist in accessing the National Curriculum.
Person Specification
Experience
Worked with this particular age range.
Aware of Curriculum needs.
Aware of difficulties associated with children having hearing impairment.
Qualifications/Training
Must have NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
Practical skills
Competent ICT skills.
Able to be an efficient team member.
Personal qualities and attributes
Reliable. flexible, cheerful and willing to make a positive impact upon a child’s performance.
